Sarıönder

Sarıönder was founded in 1890 in Sivas by Sarıhafızzade Mustafa Efendi to operate in the field of pastrami, sausage, roasting and butchery in the historical Taşhan.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Ahmet Müçteba Efendi, the son of Mustafa Efendi, continued his father’s profession and started to raise cattle all over the country in addition to the production. Müçteba Efendi became known among the city’s nobility for his generosity and philanthropy. So much so that even today, in addition to his surname, the family is colloquially known as “Müçtebahlar” or Müçteba’s descendants, and the memory of Müçteba Efendi is engraved in the memory of the city.

After the death of Sarıhafızzade Ahmet Müçteba Efendi, his son Bekir took over the business from his father as the 3rd generation and continued the profession with the vision of a reputable republican craftsman to transfer the profession to future generations. With the surname law, the family left the nickname Sarıhafızzade and took the surname Sarıönder.

In 1939, Sarıönder moved to the new shop in Atatürk Street, where it remained for about 45 years. In 1950, Bekir Sarıönder’s son and the 4th generation of the family, Süleyman Sarıönder, a graduate of Istanbul University, returned to his hometown and took over the business. In 1985, due to expropriation, Sarıönder Pastırma&Sucuk&Kavurma moved to a new location opposite the historic Meydan Mosque, where it continues to operate today and is a popular destination for Sivas residents and visitors from outside the city.

Ahmet Salim Sarıönder, the 5th generation representative of the family, who has grown up with his father Süleyman Bey in the production and sales process since childhood, established the new production facility in Sivas Organised Industrial Zone in 2016, which will combine natural and traditional production methods with modern technology.

Süleyman Serdar Sarıönder, the youngest and 6th generation representative of the family, attaches great importance to branding and digitalisation, which is a necessity of the 21st century, and continues to work in this direction.

Strictly adhering to the tradition and ethics of Ahi, these six generations have survived for more than 130 years by focusing on quality and customer satisfaction; this tradition is continued today by the Sarıönder family, which has adopted the understanding of honest business management.
